How to trim a video
Choose the video
Tap Choose a video and pick an MP4, MOV or WebM file from your phone or computer. It opens right away, because it isn't uploaded anywhere.
Mark the start and end
Drag the handles on the timeline or type the exact times. If you like, remove a part from the middle, change the shape to vertical 9:16, rotate the video or remove the sound.
Save the MP4
Tap Trim and save. When it's done, download it or, on a phone, save it to your gallery with Save or share.
What you can do
Your video stays on your device
Your browser does the trimming. There's no upload, no processing queue to wait in, and no copy of your video on any server.
Precise cuts
Step frame by frame and type times to the hundredth of a second. And if you'd rather have speed, save it without re-encoding, at the original quality.
Remove parts from the middle
Mark one or more stretches you don't want (a mistake, a long pause) and they're taken out; the rest is joined into one video.
Vertical 9:16, square or 4:5
Reframe for Shorts, Reels or TikTok and drag the frame to choose which part of the picture stays.
Rotate, mirror, sound and size
Rotate in 90° steps, mirror the picture, turn the volume up or down, remove the audio, or save at 1080p, 720p or 480p for a smaller file.
Speed and format
Speed it up to 4× or slow it down to 0.25×; the sound keeps its pitch. Save as MP4, MOV or WebM, or just the audio as M4A or MP3 if you want to pull the audio out of a video.
Compress for WhatsApp, split into parts
Compress the video to a maximum size (16 MB for WhatsApp, 10 MB for Discord, 25 MB for email, or your own) and it's fitted under it. Or split it into equal parts of 15, 30 or 60 seconds.
GIFs and pictures
Turn up to 30 seconds into a GIF, or save the frame you're looking at as a JPG or PNG.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. This tool has no paid plan, asks for no account or card, and the video comes out with no watermark. It's made by iaclips, which also runs a separate service that makes clips from long videos.
Is my video uploaded to the internet?
No. The file is read and trimmed inside your browser, on your own device, and the page never sends it to a server. That's why it starts right away, even when the video is several GB.
Which formats does it take?
It opens MP4, MOV (like the iPhone's), WebM and MKV videos. You can save as MP4, MOV or WebM, just the audio as M4A or MP3, or as a GIF. If your browser can't read the file or make a format (Safari, for one, can't make WebM), the page tells you before you save.
Is there a size or length limit?
We don't set one: it depends on your device's memory. On a computer, videos of several GB work fine. On a phone, the trimmed video is put together in the browser's memory; if the result is over 1 GB the page may close by itself, so trim a shorter part or choose 720p. GIFs can be up to 30 seconds.
Is the cut exact?
Yes, to the frame, in every player and app: your browser re-encodes the video. If the start falls right on a key frame (a point a video can play from), it's copied as it is, without re-encoding. If you'd rather have speed, tick Don't re-encode: it's copied at the original quality, but starts at the previous key frame, and the page tells you how many seconds earlier.
How do I compress a video for WhatsApp?
Under Maximum size, pick WhatsApp (16 MB). The video is re-encoded to stay under that size and, if needed, made smaller so it still looks clean. If the trim is too long to fit at an acceptable quality, the page tells you before you save.
Does the video lose quality?
When it's copied without re-encoding, no: it stays as it is. When it's re-encoded, it uses a quality close to the original's, or the one you pick under Quality or Maximum size for a smaller file.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes: in Safari on iPhone, in Chrome on Android, and on a computer in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. To keep the video in your phone's gallery, tap Save or share and choose Save Video.
Can I trim a YouTube video from its link?
This tool works with files on your device, not links. To turn a long YouTube video into short clips, iaclips (below) takes the link and does it for you; YouTube Studio's own editor trims videos on your own channel.
