How to crop a video
Choose the video
Tap Choose a video and pick an MP4, MOV or WebM file from your phone or computer. It opens right away, because it isn't uploaded anywhere.
Pick the shape and place the frame
Vertical 9:16 is already selected; switch to Square 1:1, 4:5 or Wide 16:9 if you need to. Drag the frame over the video so the person or the action stays in it.
Save the video
Tap Crop and save. When it's done, download it or, on a phone, save it to your gallery with Save or share.
What you can do
Vertical 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
Turn a landscape video into a vertical one that fills a phone screen, with no black bars above and below.
Square or 4:5 for Instagram
1:1 and 4:5 take up more of the feed than a landscape video. You can also turn a vertical video into a wide 16:9 one.
You choose what stays
Drag the frame over the picture, left, center or right, so whoever is speaking isn't cut off.
Trim the start and end too
In the same step, cut the beginning, the end or a stretch in the middle, rotate the video, or remove the sound.
Your video stays on your device
Your browser does the cropping. There's no upload, no processing queue to wait in, and no copy of your video on any server.
Phone and computer
It works in Safari on iPhone, in Chrome on Android, and on a computer in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, with nothing to install.
Questions
How do I turn a landscape video into a vertical one?
Choose the video: Vertical 9:16 is already selected. Drag the frame to the part of the picture you want to keep and tap Crop and save. Whatever is outside the frame is cropped away.
Can I crop to any size I want?
The shapes are presets: 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 and 16:9, each as large as the video allows, and you choose where the frame sits. There's no free-form crop to a custom rectangle yet.
Can I add borders or a background instead of cropping?
No. This tool crops the picture to the shape you pick; it doesn't add bars, borders or a blurred background. To fit the whole video inside a vertical frame, you need an editor with a canvas.
Does cropping lower the quality?
The video is re-encoded at a quality close to the original's, but cropping doesn't add pixels: a 1920×1080 landscape video cropped to 9:16 becomes 608×1080. For a sharp vertical video, record in 4K or as close to the final framing as you can.
Is my video uploaded to the internet?
No. The file is read and cropped inside your browser, on your own device, and the page never sends it to a server. That's why it starts right away, even when the video is several GB.
Is there a size or length limit?
We don't set one: it depends on your device's memory. On a computer, videos of several GB work fine. On a phone, the video is put together in the browser's memory; if the result is over 1 GB the page may close by itself, so use a shorter part or choose 720p.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes: in Safari on iPhone, in Chrome on Android, and on a computer in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. To keep the video in your phone's gallery, tap Save or share and choose Save Video.
Is it really free?
Yes. This tool has no paid plan, asks for no account or card, and the video comes out with no watermark. It's made by iaclips, which also runs a separate service that makes clips from long videos.
