Free tool
Compress video online for free
Pick a video and a maximum size (Discord 10 MB, WhatsApp 16 MB, email 25 MB, or your own) and save a smaller file. Your browser re-encodes it and lowers the resolution only when the size calls for it, so it still looks clean. The video is never uploaded to a server, you don't need an account, and there's no watermark.

How to compress a video
Choose the video
Tap Choose a video and pick an MP4, MOV or WebM file from your phone or computer. It opens right away, because it isn't uploaded anywhere.
Pick the maximum size
Discord (10 MB) is already selected; switch to WhatsApp (16 MB), Email (25 MB) or Another size if you need to. You can also trim the start and end: a shorter video looks better at the same size.
Save the smaller video
Tap Compress and save. When it's done, download it or, on a phone, save it to your gallery with Save or share.
What you can do
Sizes ready for Discord, WhatsApp and email
Pick 10 MB for Discord, 16 MB for WhatsApp, 25 MB for email, or type the size you need. The video is fitted under it, and if the first pass lands over, a leaner second pass follows.
Lower resolution only when needed
When the size can't hold the original resolution, the video steps down to 720p, 540p, 480p or 360p, so the picture doesn't break up into blocks.
Trim while you compress
Cut the start, the end or a stretch in the middle you don't need: every second less leaves more room for the picture. Removing the sound helps too.
Your video stays on your device
Your browser does the compressing. There's no upload, no processing queue to wait in, and no copy of your video on any server.
Choose the quality or the format
With no size limit, you can also save at 720p or 480p, which is usually much smaller. Save as MP4, MOV or WebM.
Vertical for Stories and Reels
Reframe to vertical 9:16, square or 4:5 in the same step, and drag the frame to choose which part of the picture stays.
Questions
How much video fits in 10 or 16 MB?
It depends on the length. As a guide, for a video with sound at 30 frames per second, 16 MB holds 1 minute at 720p, 2 to 3 minutes at 540p, or 4 to 7 minutes at 360p; 10 MB holds about 1 minute at 720p. Anything longer won't fit at an acceptable quality: the page tells you the smallest size that works before you save, so you can trim a part or pick a bigger size.
Which size should I pick?
Discord (10 MB) to upload to Discord without Nitro, its limit for free accounts. WhatsApp (16 MB) to send it in a chat. Email (25 MB) to attach it in Gmail: anything bigger, Gmail sends as a Google Drive link. For anything else, pick Another size and type the MB.
Does the video lose quality?
Compressing always takes away some detail, because the file carries less data. The page uses all of the size you picked and only lowers the resolution when it has to. If the video is already under that size, it's saved as it is, without re-encoding.
Is my video uploaded to the internet?
No. The file is read and compressed inside your browser, on your own device, and the page never sends it to a server. That's why it starts right away, even when the video is several GB.
How long does it take?
It depends on your device and the video's length, since the video is re-encoded in your browser. A video several minutes long can take a few minutes; meanwhile you see the progress and the time left.
Is there a file size limit?
We don't set one on the video you open: on a computer, files of several GB work fine. On a phone, the page warns you when the file is over 2 GB; if the page closes by itself, trim a shorter part or use a computer.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes: in Safari on iPhone, in Chrome on Android, and on a computer in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. To keep the video in your phone's gallery, tap Save or share and choose Save Video.
Which formats does it take?
It opens MP4, MOV (like the iPhone's), WebM and MKV videos. The compressed video is saved as an MP4, which plays on almost any phone, computer or app; you can also pick MOV (video) or WebM (video) under Format.
Is it really free?
Yes. This tool has no paid plan, asks for no account or card, and the video comes out with no watermark. It's made by iaclips, which also runs a separate service that makes clips from long videos.
